The Italian Government is planning to sell off thousands of empty properties to at least partially cover the national debt had grown up on a cosmic scale.
Under the plan, in the next few years, Treasury will receive billions of euros from the sale of plots and houses, among them: deserted mine on the island of Elba in Tuscany, army barracks near Lake Garda and the historic building in downtown Milan.
The government forecasts that by 2020 the total earnings of 25 to 30 billion euros. About half of this amount will be bailed out by the sale of homes.
The bulk of the objects reach the market in the first half of 2012 if all goes according to plan. However, buyers today proposed several sites and buildings. Among them - the old warehouse area of the Air Force almost 67 thousand m ² in Milan. Judging by the state of the building, it will be difficult to implement at a reasonable price.
It is believed that such large-scale sales will hurt the already fragile housing market, where prices are falling everywhere.
According to real estate Tecnocasa, in Milan, as well as throughout Italy, the housing is cheaper third consecutive year. In the area of the warehouse Air Force in the first half of 2011 prices fell by 4.5% - three times stronger than the national average.
Italy is in a difficult financial situation: public debt is 120% of GDP, economic growth slowed and the rate on external borrowing is 7% per annum.
